An evening Farmers Market will be held on Fridays in McGregor, beginning Friday, May 30 and ending on Friday, October 31. Seekers of locally and regionally grown produce, home-baked goods, crafts, fresh-cut flowers and more can visit the market every Friday from 3-6 p.m. at Triangle Park in McGregor. Children’s Archeology Day at Effigy Mounds National Monument
Effigy Mounds National Monument’s annual summer Children’s Archeology Day will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the monument visitor center. All ages are invited to participate in the event which will take place rain or shine and is free of charge. There will be a variety of activities taking place on the lawn and in the visitor center including pottery making, basket weaving, beading, Native American games to play, an atlatl demonstration, and a sandbox archeological dig for the children. Effigy Mounds National Monument preserves prehistoric American Indian burial and ceremonial mounds, including some in the shape of animals.
