Wetland Explorers is a nature program for preschool age children (Ages 2-5). A nature theme is explored through indoor and outdoor activities.

After a 17-year hiatus, the Great River Road - Road Race is back! This moderately difficult out and back 5K and 10K race will begin at Pikes Peak State Park, follow Pikes Peak Road, then head south on the Great River Road. After the race, participants can enjoy our traditional GRRRR Breakfast of pancakes with chicken gravy. If chicken gravy is not to your liking, butter and syrup will also be available. Tickets for family and friends will be available to purchase the day of the race.

Spend the rest of the day exploring Pikes Peak State Park, one of the most photographed places in Iowa, and the Ports of Discovery communities of McGregor and Marquette. Proceeds from the race will benefit two local nonprofit agencies, the Friends of Pikes Peak State Park and the McGregor Marquette Chamber of Commerce.

The Great River Road - Road Race (GRRRR) wouldn't be complete without the traditional breakfast of pancakes with chicken gravy. (Trust us, it's good!) Sausage and drinks will also be served.

Breakfast will be held in the shelter at Pikes Peak State Park. Free will donations appreciated. Proceeds will go toward adding a splash pad at McGregor's Turner Park.

Great free event for all ages! There will be presentations, live birds, and hands-on educational activities for children throughout the day. In this class you can choose either our autumn barn board painting or our wood tool box.
Barn Board Class: We will paint these pumpkins with the crow in the moonlight on rustic weathered barn boards. We will finish the project by attaching burlap or twine as an added touch. We have 2 sizes available:
$45 Large (measures approximately 40" tall by 12" wide)
$25 Small (measures approximately 22" tall by 6" wide)

Wood Tool Box: We will paint and distress these farmhouse style wood tool boxes perfect to add to your home decor. The tool box class is $30 for a plain tool box and an extra $5 if you would like words carved into the side. They can be personalized with names or any saying you would like. It measures approximately 22" long by 9" wide by 16" tall. We have over 18 colors to choose from.

The cost of the class includes all materials, you will leave with your completed project. We pride ourselves in using high quality materials including Benjamin Moore exterior stain so these pieces can go indoors or outdoors.

We provide step by step instruction so no experience is necessary, great for any art level and you will leave with a cute project.

Complimentary pop, water and popcorn will be served.
