Gourd Etching Workshop to be Held at McGregor Marquette Center for the Arts. Hard-shelled gourds, like apple gourds or birdhouse gourds are often painted once they’ve dried. But you can also “etch” the green skin from the gourd and “paint” it using permanent markers. Quick, easy and inexpensive! To learn this technique, attend ISU Extension workshop at the McGregor-Marquette Center for the Arts at 158 Main Street, McGregor on Saturday, October 1st from 10:00 AM until noon. Participants will learn the basics of growing gourds, learn how to etch and color a gourd and get a “practice” gourd to take home. You can even try it out on site in case you have any questions! To register, call ISU Extension, Clayton County at 245-1451 by Friday, September 30.
